New Student Registration

New students have a few steps to join the team for the upcoming season. If you have any questions please feel free to ask a mentor at a meeting, or to email us at toughtechs151@gmail.com.

  • Fill in the form at https://forms.gle/QA6NSzCQSEh1vNY16
  • Join our Slack workspace. The student should follow this link, enter the same email that was entered as the student’s email address in the form, and enter your full name into the name field. You will receive a code at the email, which you should enter when requested.
  • At least one parent or guardian should join Slack as well. Parents who choose Slack for communications will be sent an email invitation to join our workspace as a limited guest. Once you receive the invitation, please accept it to join. The link should arrive within 24 hours. If you do not receive it, please let us know.
  • Parents or guardians who choose email will be sent an invitation to join the team’s Google Group mailing list for parents. The invitation should arrive within 24 hours. You can find the Google Group for parents at https://groups.google.com/g/tt151-parents
  • Parents who choose SMS will also get an email invite to the Google Group. We do not have SMS communication set up yet, but we are working on it, and when it is available you can switch.
  • You must register with FIRST. This has several steps. If you are under the age of 18, your parent or guardian must register first. The FIRST website registration is at https://my.firstinspires.org/AccountManager/Account/Register If your parent already has an account at FIRST they can use that. Once the account is created, follow the instructions to add the student to the account, and to request to join our team. Remember our team number is 151. You should be confirmed on the team within 24 hours.
  • Pay your membership fee. The fee this year is $162, but $100 is refundable through calendar sales. We raise money for the team through the sales of a raffle calendar. In other words, you are buying ten raffle calendars at the beginning of the season, which you can keep for yourself or re-sell to others to get the $100 back. This fulfills your 10 calendar sale requirement, but we hope you will sell more to earn more money for the team. You can pay your membership by credit card online at https://nhs-tough-tech-151-boosters.square.site/product/one-season-individual-membership/83 or in person at our registration meetings or one of the regular meetings. Be sure to fill in your name or we won’t know who the payment is for! If you wish to pay by cash or check, see the mentor at registration. If this fee is a problem for you, please talk to the lead mentor about arranging an alternative or having the fee waived. We never want to lose a member because of the cost.
  • Our team is hosted at Make It Labs, 25 Crown St, Nashua NH. All students, parents, and mentors need to sign the Make Labs liability waiver and code of conduct. Please follow the instructions at https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/568d15af38e50/web/
  • The team also has a liability waiver and code of conduct. Please follow the instructions at https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/sb8xxfkfu7yx9gddqe5am1/web/
  • Log on to your team Slack account and post a message on the #attendance channel that you have joined the team. We look forward to seeing you!

Things you should know:

  • At your first or second meeting, you will receive a team tee shirt, safety glasses, and a member badge. Wearing the safety glasses in our main room is mandatory, and wearing the tee-shirt is optional except at events or otherwise when requested (but always encouraged!). Wearing the badge is expected at each meeting. You should swipe-in at the beginning of every meeting and swipe-out at the end so that you get credit for attending. If you cannot attend a meeting that is fine, but you should always post that you will not be attending in the Slack #attendance channel so we know. Please do that as soon as you know you will not be there so we can plan accordingly.
  • Always check the team calendar before each meeting to see if there are any changes or cancellations. The current day’s events are always posted in the #calendar channel on Slack. There is a link in each posting to expand it with the most current details. The calendar can also be read at https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=toughtechs151%40gmail.com&ctz=America/New_York

If you have any problems, you can contact us on your Slack account. If that isn’t working for you for some reason then contact us at toughtechs151@gmail.com. Meeting this season will be from 6:30 PM-9:30 PM on Mondays and Thursdays at Make It Labs, unless otherwise noted in the calendar. Regular meetings will commence starting Sept. 18. 2023.
